It was a matter of great pride for India to chair and host the 46th session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee for the first time, since its inception of the 1972 convention. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India and Archaeological Survey of India, it was held in Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
On 21st July, Aarya was invited by UNESCO HQ, Paris to attend the opening ceremony of the 46th session. Delegates from over 150 nations, attended the event. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. Prominent personalities including Director-General of UNESCO Ms. Audrey Azoulay along with the Minister of Culture, Minister of Foreign Affairs, GoI, diplomats and dignitaries from across the world, were present at the event.
It was a remarkable and motivating experience to meet the Director -General of UNESCO at the event and to present her11th book ‘We are One’ which embraces the concept of unity in cultural diversity.
